It’s no secret that Aaron Rodgers and the Packers have struggled a little this season. With four games remaining, the Packers are in “must-win” mode. And, Rodgers is trying to regain some of the magic that made him the reigning back-to-back MVP.
Let’s look at five career stats for Rodgers and how this season has affected his assault on the record book.
500 pass attempts in a season with less than 10 interceptions
Rodgers has 11 seasons with 500 or more pass attempts. He had less than 10 interceptions in 10 of those seasons. Those 10 seasons with 500 pass attempts and less than 10 interceptions is the most of any QB in NFL history. Tom Brady is second with seven such seasons; next in line are Derek Carr and Matt Ryan with three each. Rodgers has 423 pass attempts this season and will likely reach the 500-mark. He already, however, has nine interceptions this season. He will have to finish the season with at least 77 pass attempts and no picks to add another year to this career-leading stat.
Aaron Rodgers’ 30-TD pass seasons
Aaron Rodgers currently sits in fifth place with eight 30-TD pass seasons. Drew Brees tops the list with 10; Brady, Peyton Manning and Brett Favre are tied for second with nine seasons with 30 or more TD passes. Rodgers has 22 TD passes through 13 games. He will need to have eight in his remaining four games to jump into a tie with Manning and Favre with nine seasons with 30+ TD passes. For the record, Brady has 17 TD passes this season and will need to have 13 in his last four games to add his 10th season with 30+ TD passes.
4,000 passing yards in a season
Rodgers is one of six QBs with 4,000 or more passing yards in 10 or more seasons… he has 10 (Peyton Manning, 14; Brady, 13; Philip Rivers, 12; Brees, 12; Matt Ryan, 10). ARod has 2,864 yards passing this season, currently 1,136 short of the 4,000-mark. He will need to average 284 passing yards in his last four games to reach 4,000. Note: He has only one game this season with 260 or more passing yards.
Career games with 300 pass yards, three TD passes and no interceptions
Rodgers is third in this career stat with 31 games with 300+ passing yards, three or more TD passes, and no interceptions. Brees tops the list with 39 games followed by Brady with 37. Rodgers has made no movement in this stat this season. He has no games in 2022 with 300+ passing yards, three TDs and no interceptions. The closest he got was against the Cowboys when he had three TD passes, no interceptions and 224 yards passing in the 31-28 win over Dallas.
Aaron Rodgers third with most career games with a 100 Passer Rating
Rodgers is third all-time with 116 regular season games with a Passer Rating of 100 or better (minimum of 20 pass attempts). Brady leads this group with 153 games followed by Brees with 137. Although Aaron Rodgers has three games this season with a 100 Passer Rating, that number falls far below the 10 he had last season and the 14 he had in 2020, both of his recent MVP seasons.
