It was announced Wednesday morning by Rivals managing editor Russ Wood that Wofford freshman standout Jackson Paveletzke had entered the transfer portal. The 6’3″, 175 pound guard will be looking for a new home after averaging 15 points and 3.7 assists per game while making nearly 40% of his three point attempts.
He’s an interesting players for the Badgers for a couple of reasons. For one, current Badgers Max Klesmit came over from Wofford prior to this season and made an immediate impact. Klesmit had more college experience but adding someone with 3 more years of eligibility would be huge.
We also can’t overlook the fact Jackson is a native of Kimberly, Wisconsin. A connection to the state would make the Wisconsin program an easy sell. The Badgers need to add depth during the off-season and getting a young player with a scoring track record could be huge. He still needs to add some weight to handle the physicality of the B1G, but his shooting ability will play no matter what.
As we saw with Connor Essegian this season, defensive struggles may show up from time to time, but effort typically goes a lot further. Having a second young shooter to pair with Connor, along with Chucky and the incoming recruiting class would be exciting. It’ll be interesting to see who Gard targets after the season and if we see any players currently on the roster transfer out.
