Aaron Rodgers has been with the Green Bay Packers for 18 seasons. His run with the team that drafted him is the longest current streak in all of professional sports. Over the past couple of seasons, various scenarios have led fans and analysts to speculate as to when his time in Green Bay will come to an end. During this time, current and former teammates have never waivered in their belief that Rodgers would return to the Packers. However, former teammate and Packers full back John Kuhn is not so sure anymore.
John Kuhn Is 50/50 on if Aaron Rodgers Returns in 2023
In his show, “Nine 2 Noon” on 97.3 The Game, John Kuhn said:
“I think this is the first time, the first big time that it has been real. I spent the last three years saying, ‘Aaron Rodgers will be back. Feel pretty confident about that.’ I always leave the ‘This can happen,’ but I always thought that he would be back. This is the first year that I can sit here and say, ‘It’s 50/50.’
“You got him keeping the jersey, and I know, the bearskin rug philosophy theory out there, and I like that theory. It’s a good theory. But I think that there is a chance that he thought, ‘You know, this very well might be my last game in a Packers uniform, and I want to keep this jersey.
“You got that, you got all of his friends, all of the old guys that were there. His kind of connection to the locker room. ‘Cause he does not want to go down the way it did with Brett Favre. He saw that. I saw that. We all saw that. By the time Brett was done at the end of 2007, he was a guy, he was part of the team, he was a fun jokester during walk-throughs and stuff. But he didn’t really participate in the locker room. He didn’t really have that connection.”
Will Aaron Rodgers Retire?
At this point, no one really knows what Aaron Rodgers plans to do, perhaps not even Aaron Rodgers himself. We know from “The Pat McAfee Show” that Rodgers was in Green Bay on Tuesday and Wednesday for exit interviews with the team.
Now the offseason begins with no clear answer on who will be the Packers’ starting quarterback in 2023. Of course, if Aaron Rodgers retires, it will be Jordan Love. If Rodgers returns, there comes a question as to what Love’s future with the team will look like.

Other Packers Players Who May Retire
In addition to Aaron Rodgers, Randall Cobb and Marcedes Lewis are two players that have been around the NFL for a long time. Both returned to the Packers this past season on team-friendly salaries, but there is no guarantee that they will return next year. Lewis has said previously that he wants to play one more year (after 2022) to set the record for most NFL seasons by a tight end. However, that was before this past season; things may have changed.
Mason Crosby, too, is another long-time veteran that may find himself choosing between returning, going to another team, or retiring.
