The Green Bay Packers are scrambling at wide receiver
The wide receiver position was already a concern for the Green Bay Packers coming into training camp. The Packers lost their 2021 leading wide receiver, Davante Adams, in a trade to the Las Vegas Raiders this offseason. Allen Lazard was expected to be the Packers’ number one option at wide receiver, but he’s out with an injury currently.
The group as a whole is young. Their two rookies have had their fair share of drops in training camp. Their 2022 second-round pick Christian Watson didn’t play in the preseason. The Packers could be looking for another experienced wide receiver to help quarterback Aaron Rodgers this season.
Could the Packers look to trade with the New England Patriots?
During the season, there will be plenty of potential trade targets for the Green Bay Packers. Kristopher Knox with Bleacher Report wrote about potential top players who could be traded this season. One intriguing option could see the Packers receive former first-round pick Nelson Agholor. Agholor is currently with the New England Patriots, and the team might be looking to trade him.
The Atlanta Falcons and Green Bay Packers should be interested in Agholor if and when the price is right. They each have questionable receiver depth, and both were interested in acquiring Laviska Shenault Jr. from the Jacksonville Jaguars before he was dealt to the Carolina Panthers, according to ESPN’s Dan Graziano.
Agholor, who logged 896 yards and eight touchdowns with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2020, could provide a spark to either team’s offense.
Agholor would be a great fit in Green Bay
The Packers should explore this option. Agholor would be an exciting asset for the Packers this season. He was essential to the Philadelphia Eagles in their Super Bowl run. His expertise could help a Packers team hoping to make a long post-season run this winter.
Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst should pick up the phone and see what kind of value the Patriots want for Agholor. He is a much better option than the players the Packers were trying out this week.
