Matt LaFleur doesn’t get respect for winning games
The Green Bay Packers have won many games during Matt LaFleur’s first three seasons with the team. His teams have won 13 games every regular season since he’s been there. He’s guided the Packers to two NFC championship games. But the national media continues to refuse LaFleur credit for the Packers’ wins.
Earlier this week, WSH wrote about how LaFleur has been an effective leader for the Packers, even if the team’s success usually goes to quarterback Aaron Rodgers. There is a reason Mike McCarthy is no longer on the Packers. The team stopped winning. They’re winning under LaFleur.
Sportsbooks recognize LaFleur isn’t popular
LaFleur’s expertise looks like it will fly under the radar again this season. According to Caesars Sportsbook, Matt LaFleur isn’t popular to win coach of the year. As @Pack_Daddy points out, he wasn’t one of the top 12 names to win coach of the year honors. Even Nathaniel Hackett is ahead of him?

The names on the list are surprising. Doug Pederson is back coaching in his first season after being fired from the Eagles. Hackett is in his first season as an NFL head coach.
LaFleur has a lot of challenges with his roster that his coaching will need to overcome. The wide receiver corps is suspect. He must devise genius schemes to spread the ball around effectively on offense.
This list is insulting to Matt LaFleur
LaFleur has proven he can elevate the Packers to elite status in the NFL. While his Packers have been shy of making the Super Bowl, the team has been put in situations to win most of their games, including in the playoffs. LaFleur doesn’t need a coach of the year award to prove he’s a good coach.
Packers fans already know his value. When he eventually brings the Vince Lombardi Trophy back to Green Bay, the national media will have to respect him. Until he does that, this kind of shade will continue.

He’s overrated. He can’t win the games that matter. He inherited a hall of fame QB, what first time head coach gets that? None, so by in large, Lafluer hasn’t done squat, hence why he’s not respected. You have to do more than McCarthy.
