After a fantastic performance from Damian Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo in the All-Star Game, the Milwaukee Bucks are looking to reset after an unusual first half of the season. In last night’s All-Star Game, Damian Lillard won All-Star MVP with a 39-point performance as he drained multiple half-court shots. Lillard also had six assists and three rebounds in that game. Giannis had twenty-three points and seven rebounds, along with one assist to his game stats. The duo were the two oldest players on the Eastern Conference teams.
How The Milwaukee Bucks Can Reset and Return Stronger?
Now that the league is on their break until the end of this week, the Bucks could use this time to get themselves together. The team underwent four coaches in the past six months. It’s obvious that Milwaukee is in a “win now” mentality by bringing Lillard in during the offseason, but it hasn’t been easy for the team to perfect their chemistry to the best of their ability.
Improve Chemistry Between Doc Rivers and Players
The firing of Adrian Griffin and the hiring of Doc Rivers was met with mixed reactions, but it soured even more as the weeks passed.
Although there were frustrations about the recent losses, Giannis remained his usual optimistic self throughout the low points since Doc became coach. The Bucks are currently third in the East, as they’re behind the Cleveland Cavaliers by one game and the Boston Celtics by 8.5 games.
Doc Rivers stated in a press conference that he’s focused on improving their defense and getting the team’s chemistry to enhance. They also picked up Patrick Beverley during the day of the NBA Trade Deadline. Thanks to his addition, Beverley could help solve Milwaukee’s issues of transition and perimeter defense.
Despite the instability that The Greek Freak had to go through with the defensive issues and coaching changes, he’s in the MVP talks. He is currently averaging 30.8 points, 11.2 rebounds, and 6.4 assists. Not only that, but he is on track to become the very first player in NBA history to average 30-plus points while shooting 60% from the field in the regular season.
The next couple of days can be the perfect reset that the Bucks need in order to get back on track. The Boston Celtics have made it to the Eastern Conference Finals five times in the last seven seasons. The Cleveland Cavaliers are on a hot winning streak right now as they’re 9-1 in the last ten games.
