The NFL News over the 2023 off-season has been eye-opening, to say the least. Many different star players have made big decisions this off-season. Of course, the Green Bay Packers trading Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets has captivated headlines all off-season long, however, that is far from the only storyline happening right now. The Minnesota Vikings could be on the verge of trading one of the best players to an NFC Rival.
Minnesota Vikings Exploring A Groundbreaking Trade Involving Dalvin Cook And The Dallas Cowboys
The likelihood of the Minnesota Vikings and Dalvin Cook parting ways seems to become more of a reality day by day. Whether it be by trade or release, Cook’s time in Minnesota seems to be coming to and end. The Dallas Cowboys are quickly emerging as a team that could show serious interest in trading for Dalvin Cook prior to him hitting free agency. According to Cameron Flynn of Athlon Sports:
The Dallas Cowboys are reportedly considering a move to land a 27-year-old running back this offseason, and no, it’s not Ezekiel Elliott (at least to our knowledge).
According to KSTP’s Darren Wolfson, the Cowboys have “kicked around the option” of trading for Vikings running back Dalvin Cook.
Cook, a Pro Bowler the past four seasons in Minnesota, has long been rumored to be a trade or cut candidate this summer.
A Vikings’ second-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, Cook has become one of the league’s most productive running backs since landing in Minnesota six years ago.
He’s tallied over 1,000 rushing yards in each of the past four seasons, and even came close to hitting 2,000 yards from scrimmage during a career year with the Vikings in 2020.
For Dallas, adding Cook would instantly turn the Cowboys’ backfield into one of the scariest in the NFL. Imagining Cook and Tony Pollard in the same offense likely sends shivers down the spines of every defensive coordinator in the league.
We’ll keep an eye out for any other whispers indicating that the Cowboys may be interesting in adding Cook’s services.
The Minnesota Vikings trading Dalvin Cook out of the division would be music to the Green Bay Packers’ ears. Trading him to the hated Dallas Cowboys? That would be like a double edged sword for Packers fans. Nonetheless, seeing Dalvin Cook less than two times a year is a positive.
