The #9 Marquette Golden Eagles will continue Big East Conference Play on Saturday afternoon against the unranked Georgetown Hoyas on the road with tipoff scheduled for 2 p.m. ET. This game will be televised on FS1. Marquette will need to respect Georgetown in this one and not take this matchup for granted.
The Golden Eagles currently have a 16-5 overall record and a 7-3 conference record. They are currently tied for second place in the Big East Conference with the Creighton Blue Jays, as both teams try to chase the UCONN Huskies.
As for the Hoyas, they have an 8-12 record and a 1-8 record in Big East Conference play. Georgetown is a team that Marquette should be able to put the bed in the first half.
The Marquette Golden Eagles last played on Tuesday against the Villanova Wildcats on the road. Tyler Kolek dropped a career-high 32 points in that game. He also grabbed six rebounds and recorded nine assists. Four other players scored in double figures for Shaka Smart’s squad in that game.
Oso Ighodaro scored 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds for Marquette. David Joplin and Stevie Mitchell each scored 12 points and Chase Ross also added 11 points for the Golden Eagles. As long as they can score the basketball, they will be fine.
Georgetown Hoyas Players To Watch For Against the Marquette Golden Eagles
The Hoyas lost their last matchup against the Providence Friars last Saturday on the road by a final score of 84-76. Head coach Ed Cooley lost to his former squad and he is trying to rebuild the Georgetown college basketball program.
The Georgetown Hoyas had three players score in double figures last week against Providence. Jayden Epps scored 26 points, grabbed four rebounds, and recorded six assists. Ismael Massoud scored 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Supreme Cook also scored 15 points for the Hoyas against the Friars.
As long as the Marquette Golden Eagles worry about themselves and not play down to their opponent, they will be just fine against the Georgetown Hoyas. Marquette can very well win this game over Georgetown by 20 points (80-60).
