Earlier this week, the Wisconsin football staff embarked on a recruiting trip to make plenty of visits, including one with a top-tier 2025 recruit.
Rowan Byrne, a 2025 four-star offensive tackle, is currently ranked as the top recruit in the state of New York. The Wisconsin football staff has long been interested in Byrne, and even had Byrne on campus this past year. Now the Badgers have flipped roles and allowed the talented recruit to play host before the staff returns to Madison.
Wisconsin Football Travels to New York for Top 2025 Target Rowan Byrne
While recruits often travel to the campus to see both the staff and their potential next home, an important part of recruiting is also traveling to the recruit. Not every player has the means to consistently travel, especially if the distance is great. Badgers Head Coach Luke Fickell understands this, and has put together plenty of recruiting trips in the past to visit prized players.
Now, Fickell is on the move once again as he makes the trip to New York to visit the premier offensive tackle Rowan Byrne. Byrne is currently ranked as the top overall recruit in the state of New York and holds the 268th spot on the National ranking list. Byrne also holds the 24th overall rank among offensive tackles in the 2025 recruiting class.
While Wisconsin football has long been recruiting Byrne, the recruit is currently most involved with Rutgers, Michigan, Notre Dame, and Penn State. Wisconsin not only has plenty of competition for the offensive anchor, but they are also realistically far behind in the recruiting race. With Fickell and his staff personally making a visit to Byrne in New York, the needle could potentially move.
Can the Wisconsin Badgers Football Staff Secure a Commitment from Rowan Byrne?
A commitment from Rowan Byrne is still likely a ways away from happening, however, Wisconsin football is hoping to shake-up the current state of his recruitment.
Byrne is a versatile, powerful lineman with the ability to move along the line if needed. At the moment, Byrne is ranked and listed as an offensive tackle but the recruit has plenty of experience playing as a guard. With Byrne being comfortable and capable enough to play multiple positions, plenty of programs are interested in landing the recruit.
