Wisconsin football: The Graham Mertz era is officially over for the Badgers. This is after Wisconsin decided to part ways with their now-former starting quarterback after four years. Mertz has now taken his talents to Florida, where he seems primed to get the nod as the team’s new starting signal-caller.
Wisconsin Football: Graham Mertz Set to Start for Florida

In a recent interview, Florida Gators head coach Billy Napier appears to have dropped a massive hint at his staring lineup entering training camp. According to Napier, he is looking forward to seeing Mertz make the right calls on the field:
“Ultimately, we’ve got a great system that distributes the ball depending on how the defense aligns, and we need Graham to make great decisions,” Napier said. “We’re gonna feature these backs. We’re gonna feature Ricky Pearsall, and we’re gonna evaluate the other group of skilled players that we have.”
Not that it was really a question, but it sounded like Napier favored Mertz as the starter going into camp in his interview with @Andy_Staples. pic.twitter.com/XcaShffV8N

While this is not a confirmation that Graham has indeed secured the starting job for the Gators, it does sound like that it’s his to lose at this point.
Wisconsin Football: It’s the Tanner Mordecai Show for Badgers

Graham Mertz’s exit has opened up the QB1 role for Wisconsin, and it now appears that it’s going to be Tanner Mordecai who’s going to be taking over the helm for the Badgers. Much like Mertz, Mordecai is entering his first season with his new team. This is after the latter transferred to Wisconsin from Southern Methodist University (SMU), where he spent the last two years of his fledgling career.
Mordecai is expected to thrive under offensive coordinator Phil Longo’s “Air Raid” system as the 23-year-old looks to make as much of an impact as he can in his final year of eligibility. Big things are expected from him this coming season.
