What a last few days it’s been for the Wisconsin Badgers and Luke Fickell. After a critical weekend of hosting potential recruits, the Badgers have stayed hot on the recruiting trial. Over the last three days, the Badgers have received four commits for their 2024 class. Here is who they got over the span.
Vernon Woodward
It all began for Luke Fickell and the Badgers on Sunday when they received a commitment from Vernon Woodward. Woodward is a 6’2 180 pound three star corner out of Winter Park, FL. Woodward also held offers from places such as Ole Miss, Illinois, UCF, Louisville, Kentucky, Indiana, and Cincinnati. You can see a trend that Fickell likes to go after taller corners. Looking at the the offers and it’s clear Wisconsin got a really good player at a position they need to begin addressing.
Hank Weber
On Monday, Hank Weber gave his commitment. Weber is a defensive end and currently stands at 6’4. Defensive end is another position the Badgers need to address as that room has all of a sudden become pretty thin. The three star Weber chose Wisconsin over places such as Mississippi State, North Carolina, Vanderbilt, Ole Miss, Michigan State, and Purdue. What is best about Weber’s story is that he mentioned going into his visit last weekend Wisconsin was third on his list. He was stuck between North Carolina and Vanderbilt at that time.
Kevin Heywood
Yesterday was a fantastic day for the Badgers with two commitments. The first one came from Kevin Heywood and it’s likely their best recruit in the 2024 class so far. Heywood is a four star offensive tackle from Royersford, PA. The 6’7 290 pound Heywood also held offers from USC, Georgia, Notre Dame, and Penn State. After losing some in-state players to Penn State, it’s good to see Wisconsin bounce back and dip into Pennsylvania and grab a really good player. Heywood is mentioned to have first round NFL Draft talent already. Don’t be surprised if we see him in a tackle position on the field early in his career.
Ryan Cory
The second commit last night came from three star offensive lineman Ryan Cory. Cory is looked at more of guard. At 6’4 290 pounds, Cory also had offers from places like Pitt and Penn State. Cory also hails from Pennsylvania as he is from Gibsonia. Guard is another position the Badgers need to address as well and it sure looks like Wisconsin got a good one as well.
