Following an array of staff changes in Ann Arbor, a Wisconsin football target is calling for his Michigan Wolverines crystal ball to be changed.
Jaylen Williams, a 2025 four-star defensive lineman from Illinois, has held a crystal ball prediction for the Michigan Wolverines for months now. However, after nearly half of the staff left for the NFL or different jobs, Williams has grown frustrated with the school. Williams has held three crystal ball predictions for the Wolverines since November, but now it appears a different school could be in the conversation.
Wisconsin Football Eyeing Former Top Target Jaylen Williams Following Wolverines’ Staff Moves
After beating Ohio State multiple times, dominating the Big Ten Conference, and winning a National Championship, Head Coach Jim Harbaugh accomplished everything he set out to do at Michigan. The legendary Wolverines coach left the school for the NFL after winning the biggest trophy in collegiate sports.
However, Harbaugh did not leave the university alone, as he has taken with him Strength Coach Ben Herbert, Defensive Coordinator Jesse Minter, and Defensive Line Coach Mike Elston. In the case of talented recruit Jaylen Williams, all four of his closest contacts on the staff had left for the NFL. Now, the recruit sits in a precarious spot that has programs such as Wisconsin football and Ohio State knocking on the door.
Can the Wisconsin Badgers Football Land Williams in the Future?
Following the massive staff changes, the Wolverines prized target Jaylen Williams posted to X (Formerly known as Twitter) to show his displeasure. Williams posted a short tweet that recommended the recruiting analysts changed their crystal ball predictions for him. Williams has three predictions and all of them have the defender landing with Michigan.

With Williams hinting at a clear shift in his recruitment, it is very possible the Wisconsin football staff is looking to make a move. Williams is from Palatine, Illinois, which has been a pipeline area for the Wisconsin football staff in the past. The Badgers are also looking for more depth along their defensive line, which could mean a move for Williams will be possible in the near future.
Will Michigan Staff Changes Make a Dramatic Recruiting Change?
At this point in time, it is hard to gauge the real impact of the staff changes at Michigan, but they could very well have a last impact. While Harbaugh leaving is massive for the program, the bigger move is Elston, who was also the recruiting director at Michigan. Without Elston, the Wolverines could lose many of their pipeline connections they built over the last few years.
