Six games and seven weeks have come and gone for Wisconsin Football and the Big Ten. Last week was a big week in the Big Ten West. The winner of the Iowa-Wisconsin game would be in the drivers seat to win the West division. It was the Hawkeyes that came into Madison and used defense and special teams to get by Wisconsin Football 15-6.
As we approach the second half of the season, where do I rank Wisconsin Football and the rest of the Big Ten now that we are in week seven?
Week 7 Big Ten Power Rankings
- Michigan
- Ohio State
- Penn State
- Iowa
- Wisconsin
- Rutgers
- Maryland
- Minnesota
- Illinois
- Purdue
- Nebraska
- Northwestern
- Indiana
- Michigan State
Why Wisconsin Football at 5?
It’s pretty obvious Iowa would jump the Badgers in my Big Ten power rankings, It was an embarrassing performance for the Wisconsin offense. The defense did their part and the offense let them down in the biggest game of the year. The Badgers now have to finish the season strong and hope for a few more Iowa losses.
I did only drop Wisconsin Football one spot because of Maryland. After a tough loss on the road to Ohio State last week, the Terrapin lost at home to Illinois 27-24. It was an inexcusable loss to an Illinois team that has struggled all season. With the Badgers beating Rutgers two weeks ago, I only had to drop the Badgers one spot.
Other Big Ten Rankings Takeaways
Maryland took the biggest drop of any Big Ten team. After hanging on to the number four spot most of the season, I dropped the Terrapins to seven now. They have to bounce back fast with games still against Penn State and Michigan.
It should be a fantastic game this weekend as Penn State and Ohio State clash. This game could determine who has the top spot in my rankings next week. Michigan has yet to be challenged because of their easy schedule, but they have their tough games coming up in November.
I do feel the group of Northwestern, Indiana, and Michigan State has solidified themselves as the bottom three teams in the Big Ten. The Badgers will see the Hoosiers and the Wildcats in the first two weekends in November.
