September and October have come and gone for Wisconsin football and the rest of the Big Ten. As we enter November, every game matters for the Badgers. They likely have to win out and then hope for at least one more Iowa loss since the Hawkeyes own the head-to-head tie-breaker.
Some teams in the Big Ten have solidified themselves as a top team in the conference. Others have solidified themselves as a one of the bottom teams. Here is where I rank Wisconsin football and the rest of the Big Ten teams this week.
Week 10 Big Ten Power Rankings
- Michigan
- Ohio State
- Penn State
- Wisconsin
- Rutgers
- Iowa
- Minnesota
- Maryland
- Nebraska
- Northwestern
- Illinois
- Purdue
- Indiana
- Michigan State
Why Wisconsin Football at 4 Still?
I know most people will disagree with me keeping the Badgers at four. It also seems like a homer pick too. In a way, it is.
Wisconsin football gave Ohio State all they could handle for three and a half quarters last week. Ohio State probably played their worst game of the year, but this was a young Badger team that kept fighting and had this game tied at 10 late in the third quarter.
If Wisconsin plays the way they did Saturday for the rest of the season, they will win their final four games. I think the defense is rolling right now and the offense was able to gain some momentum.
Other Big Ten Takeaways
I think if Wisconsin football was blown out by Ohio State, I would have ranked the Buckeyes number one. Despite a very easy schedule, Michigan still looks like a complete team and one of the best teams in the entire country.
What happened to Maryland? After beginning the year 5-0, they were getting mentions of being a top 25 team. Since the 5-0 start, Maryland is 5-3 and is coming off two bad losses to Illinois and Northwestern.
There wasn’t really a big win by one team this week. With the exception of Maryland, teams that were suppose to win did win. Some might think I have Minnesota a little low, but Rutgers has been impressive and Wisconsin beat Rutgers pretty easily. I like Minnesota’s defense, but their offense is still shaky especially in the passing game.
