Former Wisconsin Badgers quarterback Graham Mertz is not having a great day with his new team, the Florida Gators. Ranked 22nd in the country, Florida is currently down 23-0 in the second quarter against the unranked Kentucky Wildcats.
As of this writing, Mertz has completed just six of 11 passes for 41 yards and has thrown an interception. In his defense, the pass he threw bounced off of his wide receiver and into the hands of a Kentucky defender. Both of the interceptions he has thrown this year have come from his receivers failing to secure the catch.
Still, the entire Florida offense looks lost against the Kentucky defense, and Mertz is not being spared any criticism on social media.
Former Wisconsin Badgers Quarterback Graham Mertz Is Being Lit Up on Social Media

Despite the defense getting lit up by Kentucky running back Ray Davis to the tune of 206 rushing yards in the first half, Mertz is receiving a great deal of criticism on social media. Some, of course, is coming for Wisconsin fans who are still frustrated that he did not live up to the hype with the Badgers:
Florida needs Graham Mertz to overturn a 23 point defecit. There’s comedy, and there’s this.

Kentucky goes into the transfer portal and gets Ray Davis. We get Graham Mertz. We aren’t the same.

Graham Mertz overshot Caleb Douglas on a deep ball. Would have been a massive gain if the pass was on target.
Also, still no Eugene Wilson, which is very notable.

Has anyone ever seen Graham Mertz and Payton Thorne in the same room together? The resemblance is uncanny.
Play like magic from home, then play like horse shit when away.

I like Billy Napier and they are recruiting great but going into this season with Graham Mertz was negligence.

A team quarterbacked by Graham Mertz has no business being ranked ever.

Update: Mertz threw a four-yard touchdown pass before halftime to make the score 23-7. He is now 10/15 for 108 yards, a touchdown, and an interception.
