The Wisconsin Badgers have produced plenty of NFL talent from their ranks over the years. However, it doesn’t look to be that way at the fullback position for the time being. They’ve entered the season without a fullback listed, but it wasn’t and hasn’t always been this way.
Alec Ingold, fullback for NFL’s Miami Dolphins has signed a massive extension making him the highest-paid fullback in the league, along with San Francisco 49ers veteran Kyle Juszczyk. Ingold, a former standout Badger fullback, continues to shine on a grander stage, about to start his 5th season in the NFL.
The #Dolphins and FB Alec Ingold have agreed to terms on a three-year extension worth up to $17.2 million, per source.

A Staggering Deal for the Former Wisconsin Badger
Ingold’s journey to the NFL has culminated in a three-year extension deal with the Miami Dolphins. This contract can be worth up to $17.2 million and it binds him to the Dolphins franchise until the end of the 2026 season.
It’s a well-deserved contract for the former Badger, especially given his play during his NFL tenure.
At the end of the 2021 season, the former undrafted free agent from the Wisconsin Badgers would become a restricted free agent. After a decent run with the Oakland Raiders, they decided not to tender him a contract. In March 2022, Ingold seized an opportunity that would reshape his trajectory, signing a two-year contract worth $6.5 million with the Miami Dolphins.
Ingold’s time with the Dolphins has been a resounding success. The 2022 campaign witnessed his significant contributions, echoing his prowess as a fullback. Amidst 17 games, the former Wisconsin Badger showcased his versatility, catching 15 passes for 105 yards and landing a crucial touchdown. His impact wasn’t confined to the air; he also navigated the ground game with finesse, rushing for eight yards and adding another touchdown to his repertoire. Ingold’s presence on the field was palpable, as he logged 40 percent of offensive snaps and an impactful 30 percent of special teams snaps, as documented by Pro Football Reference.

It Started with the Wisconsin Badgers
Ingold’s talent was on display before becoming an undrafted free agent within the NFL. He showcased his prowess as a fullback from 2015 to 2018. During his collegiate tenure, Ingold’s on-field charisma earned him a spot in 36 games, an impressive tally of 21 total touchdowns, and a revered place in the hearts of Wisconsin Badgers fans.
As the strategies shift for the Wisconsin Badgers, it’s possible that Wisconsin football has seen one of the last few fullbacks come through. It’ll be fun to watch Alec Ingold continue his success, especially after playing for the Badgers.
