Wisconsin Badgers football fans have not been this excited about an upcoming season as they are for the 2023 campaign in quite some time. Of course, this is due to new head coach Luke Fickell, who brings in the possibility for a more modern, fast-pace offense.
Fickell’s hiring, of course, was a decision that has gone against the grain of what is typical for the Wisconsin Badgers. This has become the norm for athletic direction Chris McIntosh, who has already replaced three of Wisconsin’s head coaches (football, hockey, and wrestling).
On Wednesday, McIntosh joined “The Mike Heller Show” on iHeart Media’s 97.3 The Game to discuss what Coach Fickell has done to change the narrative of the football program.
Wisconsin Badgers Head Coach Luke Fickell Has Players as Excited as the Fans Are for What’s Next

The Wisconsin football team is currently taking part in training camp off campus at UW Platteville. Mike Heller and his team have been on sight, giving fans live updates and talking to notable figures surrounding the team.
On Wednesday, Heller was joined my AD Chris McIntosh, who discussed what effect Fickell has had on the energy and expectations of the team since being hired:
“I’ve said it before. One of the things that struck me about Luke and his approach, and what I love, is this process every day and every day. You know, he’s got this saying, ‘How you do anything is how you do everything.’
“And you can see that on the field. You can see that in his attention to detail. You see it in the way his staff coaches hard. You can see it in the way the players run between drills and the excitement and the energy.
“When he wants them to turn it on, when it’s time to get work done, they get it done.”
McIntosh, of course, has been around the University of Wisconsin for a long time. If he can see a difference in the way the players are approaching practice, it must be very real.
