The Wisconsin Badgers are starting to lose their patience with head coach Greg Gard after they lost another game on the road against an inferior opponent, the Indiana Hoosiers on Tuesday night by a final score of 74-70. With the loss, the Badgers drop to 18-10 on the season and have a 10-7 record in BIG10 Conference play.
Wisconsin is currently in fifth place in the conference despite having the same conference record as the Nebraska Cornhuskers. The Badgers were trailing in the second half against the Hoosiers and Wisconsin eventually tied the game against Indiana in the second half.
However, there was a moment in the game when someone pulled the fire alarm at Assembly Hall in Bloomington, Indiana. Gard talked about that incident to the media after the game was over by saying:
“It was a great timeout for whoever from Indiana pulled the fire alarm cause we were making a run.”
That was one of the weirdest things that has happened in a college basketball game in quite some time. Five different players scored in double figures on Tuesday night for Wisconsin. Chucky Hepburn led the way with 15 points, seven rebounds, and six assists.
AJ Storr scored 14 points, Max Klesmit scored 11 points, Steven Crowl scored six points, and Justin Blackwell scored 11 points. With this loss, the Badgers feel like a first-round exit in the 2024 NCAA Tournament, but that is if they are able to make it to the tournament.
They have had some very bad losses this season in conference play. It isn’t like they are losing to the top teams in the SEC and in the BIG12 Conference for example. Wisconsin is losing to teams that aren’t going to make the NCAA Tournament from the BIG10 Conference and that is what is making fans upset.
With the Indiana upset win at home, they improved to 7-10 in conference play and 15-13 on the year for head coach Mike Woodson. The Hoosiers only had three players score in double figures. Kel’el Ware recorded a double-double with 27 points and 11 rebounds.
Mackenzie Mgbako scored 14 points and Malik Reneau scored 14 points, grabbed eight rebounds, and recorded two assists for the Indiana Hoosiers also. Indiana’s win over Wisconsin has made them even more vulnerable.
Wisconsin Badgers Fans Have Had Enough of Head Coach Greg Gard
Wisconsin’s fanbase is starting to get insufferable when it comes to Greg Gard being the head coach of this basketball team. He has been with the program as a head coach since 2015-2016. If the Badgers flame out early in the NCAA Tournament or if they miss entirely, they will want a new direction.
At one point, the Wisconsin Badgers were vying for a number one seed in the NCAA Tournament and a lot has changed since then. This is what some of the fans had to say about him losing once again:

Last year, Wisconsin started the season 11-2. They finished 9-13 in their final 22 games.
This year, Badgers started 16-4. They’ve lost 6 of their last 8 games and now sit at 18-10.
Greg Gard’s team was in the selection committee’s top 16 reveal. They’re well out of that now.

Indiana is BAD. Losers of 5 of 6 and 4 straight. Their coach is getting fired in a few weeks. And Wisconsin can’t beat them in front of a half-empty arena.
Stop defending Greg Gard. Same shit, different year.

There is a lot that can happen between now and when selection Sunday comes. The Wisconsin Badgers will face the #13 Illinois Fighting Illini, the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, and be on the road against the #2 Purdue Boilermakers in the final three games of the regular season. If Wisconsin doesn’t reach 20 wins or make the NCAA Tournament this season, Greg Gard will be out the door and they will have a new direction.
