The Wisconsin Badgers are fighting for their hopes of making the NCAA Tournament. They will truly need a lot to go their way as the regular season dwindles down to an end, and it all starts with winning their own games. Connor Essegian, of course, has been and will continue to play a huge role on the Badgers’ offense. In their win against Michigan, Essegian scored a game-high 23 points. However, the Badgers freshman took to Twitter to identify the unlikely name that he believes deserves more credit.
Wisconsin Badgers Junior Carter Gilmore Shut Down Hunter Dickinson

One of the highlights of Wisconsin’s win over Michigan was how the Wolverines’ center, Hunter Dickinson, was held in check by the Badgers for most of the night. Dickinson had 12 points and 12 rebounds, but was mostly shut down in the second half. Junior big man Carter Gilmore is a big reason why, and Essegian made sure to shout him out on social media:
He works his a** off everyday. He deserves more credit. Does what he has to do to help us win. Love him to death https://t.co/Iyws3BZwEI

If one were to just look at the game box score without actually watching the game, Gilmore would not have appeared to have much of an impact. He scored just one point (he did not even attempt a field goal), grabbed three rebounds, and had an assist.
However, as the video and Essegian point out, Gilmore’s impact does not show up in stat sheets. He is the epitome of Badgers basketball, and they will need him just as much as anyone as they try to keep their March Madness dreams alive.
