The Chicago Bears finished the 2023 regular season with a 7-10 record after losing to the Green Bay Packers 17-9 on Sunday. Chicago has the number 9 overall pick and they also have the number one overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft because of the Carolina Panthers trade and they finished 2-15 this season.
The Bears will have a lot of decisions to make. They have lost 10 straight games to the Packers and Chicago needs to do what is best for the franchise at the quarterback position. Justin Fields is 0-6 against Green Bay and the Bears are unsure what to do with him.
Luckily for the Green Bay Packers, they are sold on quarterback Jordan Love for the long haul. The offseason for the Bears will not only have ramifications on their franchise but also on other NFC North franchises as well.
Will general manager Ryan Poles keep him or dump him?
Peter King Thinks the Chicago Bears Will Try To Trade the Top Overall Pick For the Second Consecutive Season After Losing to the Green Bay Packers
After the loss to Green Bay, Chicago is now going to need to make critical decisions for the franchise. With owning the top pick for the second consecutive season, the Bears can very well trade the selection once again despite having Caleb Williams of USC and Drake Maye of North Carolina being available to them at the quarterback position and also Jayden Daniels of LSU.
Peter King of NBC Sports wrote:
“The Bears, at 1, should be able to get a 2022-like ransom for the pick with so many good quarterbacks in the pool. I expect GM Ryan Poles to trade the pick, but it’s too early to say that with certainty.”
If Chicago does trade that selection, that means they are keeping quarterback Justin Fields around and that would make Packers fans ecstatic. The Bears would then draft offensive line and wide receiver help for Fields. Some of the teams that could trade up with Chicago at number one are the Washington Commanders at 2, the New England Patriots at 3, the New York Giants at 6, and the Atlanta Falcons at 8.
The Green Bay Packers will be focusing on the Dallas Cowboys this week. The Chicago Bears will be focusing on offseason priorities after failing to qualify for the NFL postseason and finishing in last place in the NFC North once again.
