This afternoon, the Denmark Vikings came out on top of the St. Thomas More Cavaliers in an 11 inning thriller by a score of 3-2 and it took 11 innings for them to do so. Please note there was not a lot of offense in this game seeing the score but Denmark took advantage in the Top of the 11th by watching a bad throw to first while trying to turn a double play and being able to advance a runner home. Leading Denmark on the offensive side of things was Rheis Johnson and Jaycob Dittmer they both recorded 2 hits today and combinded to make four of Denmark’s 8 hits. One thing to note is not a single Denmark player recorded an RBI according to the stat sheet on the WIAA website. It was lots of back and fourth baseball and if you are a huge Baseball fan you definitely enjoyed this game.
The Denmark Vikings this season finished 26-2 the only teams they lost to this season were Pewaukee in a 2 run showdown and Hudson in a one run loss during the second of the season. The way when you look at the schedule is Denmark rolled pretty much the whole season with high winning streak numbers including a 19-0 win at one point. Top hitters this season for Denmark were Lucas Miller (.542), Rheis Johnson (.412) and Ethan Ovsask (.402) all of them came up huge in there State Tournament run. Leading on the Pitching side of things were Lucas Miller (0.80 ERA), Ethan Ovsak (1.37 ERA) and Jaycob Dittmer (1.87 ERA) that contributed to the state run.
