Why the Milwaukee Bucks Can’t Pull Off a Bradley Beal Trade

With the NBA offseason rumors already starting to swirl, one of the rumors features a Bradley Beal trade from the Washington Wizards to the Milwaukee Bucks.

There is already a problem with Milwaukee trying to acquire him, and it has nothing to do with his talent. One of the reasons why the Milwaukee Bucks may not be able to pull off a Bradley Beal trade is because of the lack of draft capital they have.

Why the Milwaukee Bucks Can’t Pull Off a Bradley Beal Trade

Milwaukee doesn’t own a first-round pick until the 2028 NBA Draft, and they also have one in the 2029 NBA Draft. Would the Washington Wizards want those first-round picks so far away, or do they want first-round picks for this year, 2024, or 2025? One of the reasons why the Bucks don’t own a first-round pick for the next several years is because of the Jrue Holiday trade with the New Orleans Pelicans a few seasons ago.

The Milwaukee Bucks don’t own many second-round picks either in the future. They own a 2023 second-round pick and then a 2027 second-round pick. Milwaukee is going to be behind the game here if they are going to try to make a Bradley Beal trade happen. The only thing they can really do is a Beal for Khris Middleton swap. They don’t have many enticing prospects to offer other than maybe MarJon Beauchamp, who was the 24th overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft.

There are a lot of other teams that will have more draft capital and players to potentially offer the Washington Wizards. Some of the other teams that can be in business with them are the Miami Heat, the Boston Celtics, and the Portland Trail Blazers.

However, if those draft picks, Khris Middleton and MarJon Beauchamp, are all the Washington Wizards want, then the Milwaukee Bucks should be on the phone with them immediately. If they don’t have enough to offer, then Milwaukee needs to pivot away from the Bradley Beal trade sweepstakes.

Miami has Duncan Robinson, Tyler Herro, and Caleb Martin to offer them. Portland has the third overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft to offer them. Plus, Boston has Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart to offer them, and this all outweighs what the Milwaukee Bucks have to make a trade happen.
