The San Francisco 49ers are gearing up for a cold weekend in Lambeau Field. San Francisco is 3-0 over the last three playoff meetings. Just in 2019 they ran all over the Mike Pettine led Packers’ defense. However, this season the Packers are better against the run and have beaten the 49ers in the regular season. Regardless, San Francisco is a loaded offense that can light up a scoreboard. The Packers defense can’t expect to stop everyone, but they should key in on perhaps one of the best weapons in the NFL, Deebo Samuel.
Why is Deebo the Biggest Threat to the Packers?
Versatility in the current NFL is something that cannot be undervalued. In week three, Deebo Samuel had ten targets for five catches and totaled 52 yards. He was held in check for the most part, but he really surged halfway through the season. The reason for his explosion: Kyle Shanahan found every way to get him the ball. San Francisco was plauged with injuries in the backfield so they turned to Deebo Samuel. He ended up as basically the feature back and looked unstoppable.
Even when San Francisco saw the return of their running backs they kept handing Deebo the ball. Just like Davante Adams, Samuel was a First Team All Pro wide receiver. Samuel can do damage on the ground and through the air. All he needs is the ball in his hands and Shanahan will find a way to get it to him. Samuel can change a game in one play with his speed and big play ability. Last week against Dallas he scored a rushing touchdown after a Dallas turnover and essentially ended the game.
