With his kickoff to start the Green Bay Packer’ Christmas Day game against the Miami Dolphins, Mason Crosby broke Brett Favre’s franchise record for most consecutive games played. It marked Crosby’s 256th consecutive game with the only franchise he has ever played for. To commemorate the occasion, the Packers shared a video on social media narrated by current quarterback Aaron Rodgers:
A #Packers record many thought would never be broken.
256 consecutive games. Congratulations, @crosbykicks2 🙌

In the video, Rodgers says, “But from my vantage point, there is no one I would trust more to make a kick in any weather with the game on the line. Home or away, regular season or playoffs. First quarter or overtime, rain, shine, snow, cold, or really cold. His ability to deliver, year after year is what makes him one of the greatest kickers in NFL history.”
Mason Crosby in NFL and Packers History
As many Packers fans know, Mason Crosby is the Packers’ all-time leader in points score. For a franchise that has been around for over 100 years, this is no small feat. In addition, Crosby’s 1,883 points (entering play on Christmas) are the 12th most in NFL history. Only Robby Gould (1,940 points) has more points among current NFL players. Crosby and Gould are the only two active players in the top 20 all-time. Former Packers (and Vikings) kicker Ryan Longwell is 20th.
Mason Crosby’s Future in Green Bay Is a Question Mark
Mason Crosby is in the last year of his contract with the Green Bay Packers. He has not expressed a desire to retire, nor have the Packers expressed a desire to move on. However, it will be interesting to see how the two parties approach contract negotiations this offseason.
