New York Giants quarterback Tyrod Taylor is designated to return from injured reserve and they will face the Green Bay Packers next Monday night. Taylor is expected to return to practice on Monday for the Giants and it will be interesting to see if he will be the starting quarterback or not.
Tommy DeVito has been the starting quarterback for New York over the last few weeks. DeVito has completed 62.9% of his passes for 697 yards passing, seven touchdowns, and three interceptions in a few games started so far this season for the New York Giants.
The Giants fanbase has rallied around him and they have won the last two games. They were on a bye in Week 13 and had two weeks to prepare for the Green Bay Packers matchup. It will be interesting to see what quarterback Green Bay’s defense will have to face in Week 14.
The Packers’ defense has been better over the past several weeks. They are on a three-game winning streak and they can’t afford a loss to a Giants team that has been starting a third-string quarterback over the past few weeks.
Tyrod Taylor has not played since Week 8 against the New York Jets, when he suffered a ribs injury. Taylor was the backup quarterback for Daniel Jones until Jones had a season-ending torn ACL injury against the Las Vegas Raiders.
The Green Bay Packers Defense Should Prepare For Tommy DeVito Over Tyrod Taylor
It is a good thing for the New York Giants that Taylor came back on a Monday morning and they don’t have a game for another week. However, the Giants know what they have in Tyrod Taylor. They need to know more about Tommy DeVito and see if he can be a backup quarterback for Brian Daboll and company moving forward.
The Green Bay Packers (6-6) defense should prepare as if DeVito would be the starter this week and not Taylor. Green Bay’s defense needs to get a pass rush against the Giants because they have one of the worst offensive lines in the entire NFL.
This is a game for Lukas Van Ness, Rashan Gary, Preston Smith, and others to sack Tommy DeVito. If Tyrod Taylor were to start for the New York Giants (4-8) against the Green Bay Packers next Monday night, it would come as a surprise. No matter how you slice it, the Packers must beat the Giants in order to stay in a wild card spot in the NFC.
