The Green Bay Packers will have to wait till November for a possible WR
It’s no secret Green Bay Packers Aaron Rodgers wants the team to look at signing a notable top free agent. The Packers have some concerns at wide receiver this season. Rodgers recently said he wanted to be paired with wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. in the future. Rodgers assumed Beckham’s return date would be later in the season.
According to Ian Rapoport with the NFL Network, Beckham’s return date will still take several weeks. He’s expected to be back in mid-November, and the Packers are considered to be in the running to sign Beckham:
Sources say the former Rams star WR is targeting the middle of November for his return to the field, meaning an imminent signing would be a major surprise. Any team could lock Beckham up now and take him through the final stages of rehab, but a later signing is far more likely…
If Beckham is on a team mid-November, that’s nine months from the clean ACL tear he suffered in February. As for potential suitors, figure any playoff-contending team with a receiver need, including the Rams — who still have Beckham’s nameplate and locker up and ready.
The Bucs, Packers, Bills and Chiefs have all been discussed as possible suitors for Beckham, though how much money the wide receiver warrants on a multi-year deal could rule out some of the possibilities.
The Packers can wait until then
The Packers are winning by running the ball and making good use of their rookie, Romeo Doubs, and a few veteran wide receivers. The defense has been playing well too. Waiting for Beckham to return in November shouldn’t be a problem for the Packers. Beckham’s addition will be more critical for the team’s playoff run. They’ll need a healthy Beckham to help the offense do some damage come playoff time.
Beckham would be lethal to the Packers come January. If he were to be signed by the Packers in November, the team could slowly work with the star wide receiver to warm him up before the playoffs.
