There is not much left to look forward to this season for the Green Bay Packers. In the midst of a five game losing streak, the team has simply not come together. Coaches refuse to change and adjust. Players are consistently injured. The front office has not made adequate moves for improvement. Needless to say, everyone is to blame for the failure of this season. Things do not get any easier as the Packers welcome their old rival, the Dallas Cowboys, to town for a primetime showdown. This also marks the return of former head coach Mike McCarthy. Will Green Bay put up a fight? Or, will the distractions and impact of the season continue to riddle them? Let’s take a look at three things we will on Sunday:
Amari Rodgers Catches His First Career Touchdown
Believe it or not, but Amari Rodgers is the only wide receiver to have been active every game this season. That is a telling tale of the quality of receivers Green Bay has on their roster. With Romeo Doubs and Randall Cobb inactive, and Christian Watson and Allen Lazard struggling with injuries, who is left? Sammy Watkins has proven to be a liability when he has been counted on to be a trusted target for Aaron Rodgers. I think that it is time for Matt Lafleur and Adam Stenavich to make Amari Rodgers a part of the offense on Sunday. Rodgers has been decent the past several weeks, but still not good enough. I to believe that he needs the confidence from Aaron Rodgers to make some plays. He will (hopefully) get his targets on Sunday and I think he will play his best game as a professional and score Green Bay’s only touchdown.
Tony Pollard and Ezekiel Elliot Combine for 200 Rushing Yards
Coming into this season, Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon were considered the top running back duo in the NFL. This season, that has not been the case. Ezekiel Elliot and Tony Pollard have taken that role and continue to show it week by week. Green Bay’s running game was decent on Sunday, but still is the weakest link of the defense. I think Kellen Moore is going to take full advantage of Joe Barry’s lackluster run defense and run the ball consistently on Sunday. The Dallas Cowboys also implore one of the best offensive lines in the NFL. The combination of a talented offensive line and well respected offensive coordinator speaks troubles for a defense needing another week to prove themselves.
Green Bay Loses By Two Touchdowns
The Green Bay Packers just have too many issues to fix in a short amount of time. The injuries continue to pile up. The inexperience is really taking its toll on the players. And coaches are not putting players in position to succeed. I think fans can agree with this quite well. A team can (and should) find its identity by this point in the season. Green Bay has not been able to do that, and I am not sure if they can by the end of the season. The Dallas Cowboys are one of the best teams in the NFC. This is going to be yet again another test for Aaron Rodgers and company to come together and pull out a win. Do I think they can win? Honestly, no. Will they be competitive? I do think so. Will this be their identity? We will know come Sunday at 3:30pm.
