The Pittsburgh Steelers have been at the center of trade talks surrounding their wide receivers all off-season. After losing out on nearly every quarterback sweep stakes this off-season, Pittsburgh seems to headed for a rebuild following Ben Roethlisberger’s retirement. Aaron Rodgers, Russell Wilson, Deshaun Watson all are off the table. Possibly Baker Mayfield? However we don’t think it’s very likely the Browns trade their old QB to another team in their division.
Diontae Johnson is entering a contract year in 2022. Paying Johnson what he would be asking for doesn’t line up with what the Steelers are trying to do. Pittsburgh used a third-round pick to select Johnson in 2019. To receive a second-rounder three years later is good business. Green Bay has two (53 and 59) picks in the second round this year.
Diontae Johnson finished with 107 receptions (ranked 5th in NFL) and 1,161 receiving yards in 2021. However 527 of those yards came AFTER the catch (ranked 8th in NFL). He is a YAC MONSTER. He also had 88 receptions, 923 yards, and 7 touchdowns in 2020.
Johnson picked up a first down on 59 of his 107 receptions in 2021. Over 50% of the time Johnson is moving the sticks. He would absolutely thrive in Matt Lafleur’s offense. Get him the ball and watch him make plays.
Proposed Trade:
Green Bay receives:
- WR Diontae Johnson
Pittsburgh receives:
- Pick #53 in 2022 NFL Draft
Johnson has even had success against Jaire Alexander:

This type of trade wouldn’t cost a first round draft pick and would provide Green Bay with a true number one wide receiver.

It is good business to trade one of the top wide receivers in the game for a second round pick? With the prices teams are placing on young wide outs right now?
Gotta rethink this proposal, my man.
Was thinking the same thing. Would take a first or maybe a 2nd and 3rd
Yeah this is never going to happen.
Trading johnson would be the dumbest thing Pittsburgh could do.😒😒
