ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith did not hold back when he spoke about his view of the struggling Milwaukee Bucks.
“The Milwaukee Bucks stink right now, and the New York Knicks got a chance to get the No. 2 seed in the East along with the Cleveland Cavaliers, who are being led by Donovan Mitchell, who have won 14 of their last 15 games,” said Smith on the Stephen A. Smith Show.
It’s hard to refute the sentiment of Smith. The Bucks have not looked right since the start of the Doc Rivers Era. They lost their first two games under Rivers before beating the Dallas Mavericks on the road last Saturday.
The momentum faded right away, as the Bucks have since gone 0-2, with back-to-back losses to the Utah Jazz and the Phoenix Suns. It is worth noting though that the Bucks played all of those five games in enemy territories and missed the services of Damian Lillard and Brook Lopez in the Suns meeting.
The Milwaukee Bucks Can End Their Slump With Looming Homestand
The good news for Rivers is that the Bucks are back in Milwaukee for a four-game homestand. Perhaps a friendlier environment will spark Milwaukee back to their winning ways, beginning with Thursday’s game versus the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Through five games under Rivers, the Bucks have averaged 113.2 points on 47.7 percent shooting from the floor. For comparison, the Bucks, on the season, are putting up 123.3 points per outing with a 49.6 field goal percentage.
