In a game where both teams had playoff implications on the line we expected a great match. San Antonio Spurs looking to clinch a spot in the play in tournament in the west as they came into the game as the 10th seed. The Bucks came in a half game back of the Nets for the second seed in the East. Bucks controlled their destiny for the 2nd seed well until tonight.

    Record Breaking 1st Half

Spurs looked like they were having a shoot around as they scored a franchise record 87 first half points. The Spurs went on to score 146 points including shooting 17 for 29 from three. Spurs had 7 players in double figures lead by Demar Derozan 23 points.

    Bucks Starting Five

The Bucks Starting five played well offensively as they scored 95 of the 125 for the Bucks. Four starters scored in double digits on the night. Lead by Giannis with 28 points. Bobby Portis also scored 13 points off the bench. However as a team the Bucks shot just 31% (13 for 41) from 3 on the night.

    Open Gate Policy

The Bucks simply played awful on defense tonight. It didn’t matter who was on the court for the Bucks tonight they might as well just stayed on the offensive end because the Spurs got any shot they wanted. Not only did the Spurs score a franchise best in 1st half points but 146 points is the most points the Bucks have given up all season. It is the most points the Bucks have given up since 1977 in a 3OT game against the New York Knicks in a 152-150 win. It is however, the second time they have given up at least 140 points this season. 143 against the Rockets in a loss back on April 29th.

    Good News

The good news is the Bucks offense looks good overall and are starting to build chemistry together. They still hold the tie-breaker with the Nets if they end up tied for the 2nd seed. They currently sit 1 game back with each team having 4 games left.
