Did Aaron Rodgers scoop something on the Buccaneers’ jumbotron, relay that information to head coach Matt LaFleur, and help his defense put a stop to Tom Brady‘s two-minute drill attempt to tie the game?
That’s what stirred the proverbial pot after the Packer’s 14-12 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, Sept. 25.
Aaron Rodgers clarified it on today’s episode of “The Pat McAfee Show.”
Let’s Catch You Up…
A strange sequence of events, including a touchdown in the game’s final seconds and a delay of game penalty, marred the Bucc’s two-point conversion attempt that would have led to a tie.
In both on-field and press interviews after the game, Rodgers claims to have noticed some “vital information” on the Buccaneers’ jumbotron.
The Buccaneers’ in-house video operations team may have streamed some crucial details, and Aaron certainly picked up the clues.
Some speculate that Rodgers pointed out that there should have been a delay of game on the previous play. This is during the one-yard touchdown pass from Brady to Russell Gage with 14 seconds left in the game.
But, it was still unclear what he saw and deduced or to whom he shared the information.
Others have speculated that Tom Brady‘s tablet screen was visible on the jumbotron, showcasing the “exact play” the Buccs drew up for the 2-point conversion.
Pat McAfee shared Rogers’s post-game interview with Tom Rinaldi from Fox News on his Twitter timeline.
He said;
“It was a delay on both plays. But sometimes, you see things in the game. Sometimes the jumbotron shows things they probably shouldn’t, even at home. I saw something. I just passed on the information.”

What Did Rodgers Really See as Told to Pat McAfee
During Rodgers’ normal Tuesday afternoon appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show,” Aaron Rodgers provided a thorough review of the sequence of events that have caused a lot of speculation.
To save you time, here’s the long and short of it…
- Rodgers is not trying to get a jumbotron operator fired.
- Green Bay’s jumbotron will wait to show the replay on close plays until the next play has occurred.
- All of this speculation started when Rodgers walked down the sideline to talk to Head Coach Matt LaFleur.
- Rodgers relayed game management tips to LaFleur, noting the Packers were past the point of needing a timeout. So LaFleur should be open to using the Packer’s final time out while in their two-minute defense.
- Four plays before the two-point conversion, Rodgers admitted to seeing something on the Jumbotron that he then relayed to LaFleur.
- Rodgers would not expand on what exactly he saw and relayed, “loose lips sink ships.”
- Rodgers also admitted that the information he relayed had nothing to do with the two-point conversion, may not have had any effect on the game’s outcome, and is uncertain whether the info even got relayed to defensive coordinator Joe Barry.
- “If you know something is coming, you still need to go out there and execute.” – Aaron Rodgers
