The Milwaukee Brewers called up outfielder Sal Frelick over the past couple of days, and he made his MLB debut against the Atlanta Braves this past weekend. Milwaukee still has a ton of talent down in their farm system, and Frelick was their second-best prospect, according MLB.com.
The next prospect they could potentially call up before the end of the season is left-handed pitcher Robert Gasser. He is the seventh-ranked prospect in the Milwaukee Brewers farm system. Gasser is currently in Triple-A with the Nashville Sounds.
Robert Gasser Is the Milwaukee Brewers Next Potential Call Up
During his 2023 season in Triple-A, he has pitched in 18 games and has started in 17 of them. Robert Gasser has a 5-1 record so far this season with a 4.18 ERA. In 90.1 innings pitched in the Milwaukee Brewers farm system so far this season, he has given up 82 hits and 46 runs. Gasser has only walked 35 batters and has struck out 109 batters. His WHIP is a little high at 1.30.
Robert Gasser is projected to either be a backend starter or a reliever when reaching the MLB. It will be interesting to see when Milwaukee calls him up, but there is an exciting wave of prospects coming through now, and this is only the beginning of it.
Left-handed pitcher Ethan Small and right-handed pitcher Abner Uribe were also called up earlier in the season by the Milwaukee Brewers. Small is currently back in Triple-A with the Nashville Sounds working on his mechanics, and it appears as if Uribe has a place with the Brewers in the Big Leagues for the immediate future.
Whenever Robert Gasser gets that call to the big leagues, he hopes he can contribute and be an impact player right away for them.
After the 24-year-old Gasser, who could be the next prospect that’s called up after him?
Jackson Chourio (Outfielder)
Chourio will be one of the main prospects that will be called up in 2024 for the Milwaukee Brewers. He is the top prospect in their farm system and a top-five prospect in all of baseball. Jackson Chourio is currently in Double-A with the Biloxi Shuckers, and it can’t be long now he will be in Triple-A with the Nashville Sounds.
Chourio has played in 80 games so far this season for the Biloxi Shuckers. He has a .281 batting average with 14 home runs and 61 RBIs, along with 28 stolen bases. His on-base percentage is .332, and his slugging percentage is .463. Jackson Chourio has 94 hits; 17 of them are doubles, and one of them is a triple. The Milwaukee Brewers’ 19-year-old stud is a right-handed batter and right-handed fielder also.
