Yesterday was Green Bay’s first preseason game of the 2022 NFL season. While there were many ups and downs, it was safe to assume that special teams being competent, was a huge positive. The night for special teams was highlighted by Amari Rodgers’ 50 yard kick off return.

The longest return of his career so far was widely celebrated by the Packers. So much so that Rashan Gary got into the face of Amari Rodgers… and knocked him on his butt. It was on accident of course, but Rashan Gary certainly laid out Rodgers. Here is a better view of it:

It was awesome to see the team be so supportive of special teams. The players are well aware of the struggles from last year and they are excited to see a turnaround this year. With that being said, the 277-pound Gary had about 75 pounds on Rodgers. Rodgers also has been vocal about how he slimmed down to the 200-range this offseason.
“It felt amazing,” Rodgers said of the return.
Rodgers also caught a 22-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter. He finished with 93 total yards on four touches (two kickoff returns, one catch, one carry).
