There’s no reason for concern with David Bakhtiari’s play so far this season as Matt LaFleur praised the veteran
The Green Bay Packers offensive line got a boost this season with the return of All-Pro left tackle David Bakhtiari. The veteran recovered from a serious knee injury and is finally back to anchor that offensive line.
And so far, he’s done his job according to Packers head coach Matt LaFleur.
Following the loss to the New York Giants in London, the head coach was asked about Bakhtiari’s play. And he seemed very pleased with it, so far despite using a rotation. Here’s what he said via AcmePackingCompany:
Reporter: With David and the rotation yesterday, what was the thought process with that, especially in the second half? Was he displeased at all with the approach that you guys took?
LaFleur: Not to my knowledge. We were very mindful. That was a long flight over there. Playing on turf, so, just taking everything into consideration we thought that was the right thing to do for him to make sure that he stays with us for the duration of the season. He’s still working his way back into this thing too, let’s not forget about that. It’s pretty early in the fact that he’s only played a couple of games now. Don’t get me wrong, he’s done a really nice job for us and we’re happy he’s back, but we wanna make sure we’re smart about it, too, because, like we’ve said all along, it is a marathon.
It will be interesting to see if there is a rotation moving forward at left tackle. Bakhtiari does have the reputation and pedigree of being a stud left tackle.
But they also can’t afford another serious long-term injury that could hamper this offensive line and offense here in the stretch run of the season.
