The Packers’ defense has gotten most of the love in the last two or three drafts. Last year the Packers had two first-round picks and both were spent on the defensive side of the ball. This year is likely to change. One Packers mock draft has the team reloading on offense.

Packers Mock Draft
Pro Football Network put out a mock draft for the Packers. They have GM Brian Gutekunst taking an offensive player with three of their first four picks. With their first-round pick, OT Broderick Jones would come to the Packers. Fresh off a national championship win, he would bring some much-needed depth to the line. In the second round, the Packers would select Rashee Rice out of SMU. He is a very productive wide receiver who fits the mold the Packers usually go with. Finally, the Packers mock draft has the team taking Luke Schoonmaker in the fourth round a good TE out of Michigan.
Time To Focus On Offense
The offense really does need some love. A lack of talent is not why the Packers’ defense is having problems. There is also some good value in later rounds that will help the Packers’ defense. Getting an offensive lineman, a wide receiver and a tight end fill all of the most needed roster positions. Gutekunst did well in last year’s draft and the hope is he can duplicate his success.
This isn’t the only Packers mock draft that has the going offense. I myself have them taking TE Michael Mayer in the first round but I don’t hate the Jones pick either. Gutekunst will have a decision to make but there is a lot of talent in this draft and the Packers are in a position to get an impact player.
