The Green Bay Packers have reportedly missed out on one potential option to be a backup quarterback this season. The Packers named Sean Clifford as their QB2. However, the team has been linked to several quarterbacks this preseason to be QB3.
The Green Bay Packers miss out on Trey Lance to Dallas Cowboys
One of those quarterbacks is the former third overall pick by the San Francisco 49ers, Trey Lance. Lance has struggled during his first two seasons in the league. According to Adam Schefter with ESPN, the Dallas Cowboys traded a mid-round pick for Lance Friday evening.

Lance will now back up Dak Prescott.
According to Glenn Kaplan with WSH Media, Lance was thought to be linked to the Packers as a logical trade destination for Lance this preseason.
The Packers selected his college teammate, wide receiver Christian Watson, in the 2022 NFL Draft. Lance could have stepped into the Packers’ offense with a major connection on the roster if something happened to Jordan Love and/or Clifford.
