The Las Vegas Raiders and New York Jets appear to have some star players at odds with management heading into OTAs. The two teams, and, especially Aaron Rodgers, could benefit from a major trade this offseason. Wide receiver Davante Adams appears unhappy with the new quarterback situation in Las Vegas. He could be a prime piece the Raiders try and trade to get some value in return, as he’s unlikely to finish his contract with the team.

Davante Adams could be traded after June 1
Some analysts have said it would be hard for the Raiders to trade Adams this offseason, as the team would have to eat $31.4 million in dead cap this season and $23.6 million in 2024. However, as Mike Florio with NBC Sports pointed out recently, the dead cap space moves to just $7.85 million if the Raiders trade Adams after June 1. The Raiders would still owe north of $30 million in dead cap for the next two seasons, but the Raiders are on the hook for that regardless of what they do with him:
“Adams has a manageable salary of $6.03 million in 2023; he already has received a $20 million roster bonus. If Adams’s agitation is enough to get the Raiders to move on, they could do so with a reasonable cap consequence this year, and a larger (but not crippling) one in 2024.
The money that makes up the $31.4 million in total cap charges has already been spent. It’s gone. Those cap dollars will count against the Raiders’ cap, sooner or later.”
The New York Jets have value to offer the Raiders
There would be a good reason for the Raiders to try and move on from Adams this summer. The value they could get in return from the Jets. They have an All-Pro defensive tackle that would fit the Raiders’ needs perfectly. Quinnen Williams has taken shots at the Jets on his social media accounts this offseason. He’s also skipped out on voluntary OTAs as Williams has requested a new contract in the annual range of $25-30 million. There have been multiple trade rumors for William’s in the last week.
The Raiders are currently weak at defensive tackle, with their starters projected to be Jerry Tillery and Bilal Nichols. Trading for Williams and pairing him on the defensive line with this year’s first-round draft pick, Tyree Wilson, could make the defensive line a force in a quarterback-heavy AFC West.
Williams and Adams would fit the profile of a player both the Jets and Raiders need on their roster. The Jets reportedly are uninterested in anything below a first-round pick for Williams. Adams fetched a first and second-round pick from the Raiders last offseason, and his value didn’t decline much after an All-pro season in 2022.
The proposed trade should look pretty close to a swap for each player:
New York Jets receive:
- Davante Adams
- 2024 Fifth-Round Pick
Las Vegas Raiders receive
- Quinnen Williams
- 2024 Third-Round Pick
The Jets would go all in; the Raiders would have a new foundation
The Jets would give Aaron Rodgers another dynamic wide receiver on the offense he’s familiar with for the 2023 season. Rodgers would have one of the best-skilled offensive lineups in his NFL career. That could make the difference between the Jets sneaking into the playoffs and being a Super Bowl contender.

The Raiders would lose a valuable piece for Jimmy Garoppolo. However, the offense will likely be a run-heavy team with running back Josh Jacobs. The defensive line would be immediately improved by adding Williams to the front. The Raiders would be a pass-rushing force for years to come in a division with Patrick Mahomes, Justin Herbert, and Russell Wilson slinging balls downfield.

Incredibly dumb article. Quinnen Williams is young and the best player on the Jets defense. They are not trading him. Unlike J. Adams Williams plays a premium position. No chance. Corey Davis and a 7th for Adams is a lot more realistic. Adams is at the end if his career the Raiders are not getting 1 or a 2.
I would say Adams is worth a first in a vacuum but definitely to the Jets with Rodgers.
What he’s not worth is Quinnen Williams. In 2022 the Jets went from a top five D to about a middling 15-16th rank when Q wasn’t on the field. As valuable as Adams is I don’t see him moving the offensive needle 10+ positional rankings, nor do I think that would be as valuable to the team’s philosophy even if he could.
For a 2025 first rounder I’m all game though.
This is retarded. Ain’t no way I’d trade a young rising star at a position of higher value for an aging receiver who might give you 2 more years of this level of production? You ain’t big enough to be writing bullshit clickbait like this; be better.
