The NFL refs continue to be a storyline week in and week out and it was no different in the Kansas City Chiefs and Green Bay Packers matchup on Sunday night. Green Bay won the game against Kansas City 27-19.
The Packers improve to 6-6 on the season and into the seventh spot in the NFC and the Chiefs drop to 8-4 on the season and the fourth seed in the AFC. On the final drive of the game, Green Bay Packers safety Jonathan Owens was “flagged” for a late hit on Patrick Mahomes.
Mahomes was still in bounds at the time and he was never out of bounds. It was one of the most garbage calls you will see all season long. This is the same treatment that Tom Brady used to get when he was with the New England Patriots.
After that call, a ton of NFL fans went nuts on Twitter. Also, here is the photo of Jonathan Owens hitting Patrick Mahomes in bounds and how this should not have been a penalty at all:

The photo is all the proof in the pudding everyone needs that was one of the worst calls in the game. There are those who will complain about the refs missing a pass interference a couple of plays later, but no one wants to hear about it.
NFL fans react to the horrendous officiating once again on Twitter During the Kansas City Chiefs and the Green Bay Packers Contest
The second someone sees a bad call in a game, everyone is quick to react on Twitter. There were a lot of strong reactions about Jonathan Owens being flagged for his late hit on Patrick Mahomes. Here is what some of the fans had to say about it:

Are you kidding me@NFL needs to investigate this ref crew

I wish the refs weren’t the story again. But the refs are the story again. Between the ejection, and the missed PI and forward-progress rulings, the officiating screwed with the last two minutes of another big game. And that’s w/o getting to the Hail Mary attempt.
Packers win.

The truth of the matter is that Albert Breer is right about the NFL refs being a story once again in the Kansas City Chiefs and the Green Bay Packers game. Green Bay luckily escaped with a win. The coaches and the players can speak to the media after the game, but why can’t NFL refs?
That is a question that everyone wants to be answered. They have not been good week in and week out and something needs to change.
