Zack Martin has been the anchor of the Dallas Cowboys offensive line throughout his NFL career. With training camp set to begin next week according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Martin is considering not showing up to training camp because of his unhappiness with his contract situation and the Dallas Cowboys are not willing to restructure it.
Zack Martin Considering Not Showing Up To Dallas Cowboys Training Camp
Martin is already 32 years old and will be only making $13 million next season and $14 million the season after, according to Spotrac. Martin is scheduled to make less than $7 million less this season than the NFL’s top-paid guards.

On the current depth chart, if Martin decided to hold out of training camp, Matt Farniok would take over his spot in the meantime. Martin is viewed as one of the best guards in the entire NFL and this would be a huge blow for the Dallas Cowboys if he didn’t show up at all for them.
Chris Linstrom of the Atlanta Falcons will be making $20.5 million in 2023 and Quenton Nelson of the Indianapolis Colts will be making $20 million in 2023. T
hose are two of the top guards that are getting paid in the NFL. They are also elite offensive linemen and very important to their respective football teams, just like Martin is to the Dallas Cowboys.
Dallas is also getting older on the offensive line and someone who needs him the most is quarterback Dak Prescott. Martin has been in the NFL for nine years and was the 16th overall pick in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft out of Norte Dame.
Owner Jerry Jones should not be stubborn and make him one of the highest-paid guards in the NFL. In the past, he has made questionable financial decisions with handing out contracts. He was late with quarterback Dak Prescott and they need to make Martin happy.
If not, it would be interesting to see what the next move would be for him.
