It feels like Green Bay Packers football cannot start soon enough (follow our countdown to the regular season as we countdown the greatest players in team history). For almost every fan, the biggest question is, “How good will Jordan Love be?” It is not easy taking over for a future Hall of Famer, as Love is for Aaron Rodgers, and as Rodgers himself did for Brett Favre. Indeed, there is a great deal of pressure on Love, maybe not from his teammates and coaches, but from fans and, probably, from himself.

In order to be successful and, perhaps more importantly, stay mentally strong (mental health matters), Love is going to need the support of his teammates. And according to running back Aaron Jones, that is exactly what he is going to get.
Green Bay Packers Running Back Aaron Jones’ Message to Jordan Love: “We Got Your Back”

The Packers have started mandatory mini camp, which has seen every player (except for those who have been given excused absences) show up to workout. After their first session on Tuesday, Jones was asked by the media present what message he has for Love as a first year starter. Here was his response:

“Jordan knows he’s got all the support around him. He’s out there making plays and we’re celebrating with him. But I’ve told him, ‘You know, Jordan, we got your back. We’re going to make this easy for you just as you’re going to make this easy for us. And we’re all going to feed off of each other.’
“We know that it is not just one person, it takes all 11. So we’re going to go out there and play team ball.”
He was then asked if he plans on working out with Love after mini camp is over and before training camp begins. After Rodgers was traded to the New York Jets, Jones flew out to California and started working out with Love. In response to the question of doing it again, he said that they have talked about it and that they are working on getting more of the guys to join them. “It’s fun,” Jones said, “so why not doing it again and build that chemistry?”
It is interesting that a great deal of this offseason has seen multiple players talk about building and the importance of team chemistry. That is something that was noticeably lacking on last year’s team. Even though many players are returning, they are all together. No one is holding out, sitting out, or making it all about them. They truly want to grow together as a team.
Perhaps we will see a better product on the field as a result.
