Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love and how well he plays will be one of the biggest storylines of the entire NFL season. Several Packers players have already talked about how good he looks and how great of a leader he is this offseason. However, many fans are not ready to buy into Love based on what his teammates are saying.
That being said, the Packers started joint practices on Wednesday with the Cincinnati Bengals. While both Green Bay’s and Cincinnati’s offenses struggled, Love did very well overall. So well, in fact, that he garnered praise from several Bengals defensive players.
Cincinnati Bengals Cornerback Mike Hilton Praises Green Bay Packers Quarterback Jordan Love
The first day of the joint practice between the Bengals and Packers was highlighted by two fights involving Elgton Jenkins. Both offenses struggled against the defenses, which is pretty typical for the early weeks of training camp. However, Love played particularly well individually, which is something Bengals cornerback Mike Hilton took note of:
“Real strong arm. Obviously that’s what he’s been known for, but you can tell … he’s seeing things a little slower and his process is a little faster, so I feel like Green Bay got a good one.”
This echoes the comments made by Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Darius Slay after he faced Love in the second half of the Packers’ game against his team last year: “Green Bay got a bright future, because buddy was slinging it.”
It is, of course, to dub Love as the next Hall of Fame quarterback of the Green Bay Packers. However, the future is, indeed, bright with all of the young talent this team has, their starting quarterback included. While there may be growing pains throughout the season, it certainly sounds like there is more reason to be hopeful than doubtful.
