Something changed overnight in the quest to sign free-agent wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins this offseason. The wide receiver has been getting attention from several AFC contenders since the Arizona Cardinals released him.
Hopkins reportedly is stuck choosing between “ring chasing” and money. It appears the 31-year-old All-Pro, who has no plans to retire soon, is thought to be putting money before an immediate championship.
NFL News: Odds For DeAndre Hopkins change to the Tennessee Titans
According to NBC Sports Bet, Hopkins’ odds of landing with the Tennessee Titans changed dramatically from Wednesday to Thursday. He was +500 to be a Titan on Wednesday. Hopkins is now at -300 to call Nashville home this fall.

The New England Patriots showed interest in Hopkins

Hopkins has visited with the Titans and New England Patriots. It was reported recently the Titans were more aggressive in courting Hopkins than the Patriots. The Patriots recently signed DeVante Parker to an extension–though their head coach knows the team needs to spend money in a year he’s on the hot seat.
According to Over The Cap, the Titans have $8 million left in cap space before training camp starts. The Patriots have over $17 million to spend. The Kansas City Chiefs are interested in Hopkins, but they have to wait for an extension with defensive tackle Chris Jones to be complete before they have enough money to spend on Hopkins, as they have about half a million left in cap space.
Why the sudden odds change to the Titans? Who knows. Hopkins has no reason to rush at this point in July. He hopes more teams show interest later this summer to boost his negotiating price.
