The Dallas Cowboys could be without one of their best players on offense due to their contract situation. The Cowboys have had to juggle a few key players’ contracts this offseason. Headlines have gravitated around the running back position as the team released Ezekiel Elliott and slapped Tony Pollard with the franchise tag.
NFL News: Dallas Cowboys could miss Zack Martin at camp
However, one of the main reasons the Cowboys’ running game has been so strong, Zack Martin, could create a hole on the roster instead of in the form of a running lane to begin the season. According to Adam Schefter with ESPN, Martin might not report to the Cowboys training camp this summer. Martin is unhappy with his current contract and thinks he’s “woefully underpaid” compared to the offensive guard market.

Martin has a point. This year, he just joined the Madden “99 Club“, an elite club of NFL players who cannot receive a higher rating in the video game. Martin is an eight-time All-Pro and has been nominated to the Pro Bowl in eight seasons.
Martin’s salary won’t reflect his pedigree this season. He signed a six-year deal worth $84 million. That’s $14 million annually. That base figure of $14 million per season would make Martin the ninth-highest offensive guard in the league.
The 32-year-old offensive star’s contract doesn’t expire until after the 2024 season. The Cowboys might have to think about ensuring Martin is there to make Pollard or their next running back’s life a lot easier.
