The Green Bay Packers have made most of their roster additions through the draft instead of free agency. One potential trade target at an area of need is returning before their team’s mandatory minicamp this week after requesting a trade.
The Green Bay Packers could use more safety help
The Packers could look for extra help at pass rushing, wide receiver, and safety positions. The Packers signed Jonathan Owens at safety, but he might not be enough to replace Adrian Amos. The Packers have been named by several analysts as a likely team to trade for a top safety target, Budda Baker. Baker requested a trade this offseason. Baker has missed the Arizona Cardinals’ voluntary OTAs.
Budda Baker returns to the Cardinal’s building
According to Ian Rapoport with the NFL Network, Baker is back in the building before the Cardinals’ mandatory minicamp this week.
#AZCardinals star S Budda Baker, who has requested a trade, is present and in the building as AZ prepares for mandatory minicamp, I’m told.

It was a surprise to see Baker show back up before mandatory camp after the trade request. However, showing up for the minicamp is in Baker’s financial interests. Missing all three days of minicamp would cost an NFL athlete nearly $100,000 this offseason in fines.
This doesn’t mean Baker isn’t still a trade option for the Packers. But it appears Baker won’t be forcing the issue with Cardinals management this summer in a holdout situation. The Packers might have to give up a little more draft capital if they want Baker on the defense this season.
