The Green Bay Packers are signing a wide receiver on the eve of the first training camp practice of 2023. General manager Brian Gutekunst indicated Tuesday the team would not look for veteran help at the position. However, the team is adding another youthful pass catcher to the offense for camp.
Green Bay Packers sign Cody Chrest

Chrest played college at Harvard and Sam Houston State. He was initially signed by the Indianapolis Colts as an UDFA this year. He spent time with the Pittsburgh Steelers this spring as well. Chrest was a second-team ALL-WAC selection at Sam Houston State for the 2022 season. He caught 36 passes for 548 yards and two touchdowns last season.

It will be a long shot for Chrest to make the Packers’ 53-man roster or practice squad roster after camp. But with most of Chrest’s competition being rookies, he has a chance to prove himself this summer.
