NFL: The Green Bay Packers are heading into a somewhat uncertain 2023 season. For the first time in 31 years someone not named Brett Favre or Aaron Rodgers will be under center come week one. With the massive Aaron Rodgers trade coupled with numerous veterans leaving the team, the Packers have all of a sudden become one of the youngest teams in the NFL. In fact, they only have three players on their roster (currently) over the age of 30. Pat O’Donnell (32), David Bakhtiari (31), and Preston Smith (30). However, the future does look bright and one name to keep an eye on is wide receiver Christian Watson.
Christian Watson Continues To Draw Randy Moss Comparisons

Last month, a big debated occurred online when one Green Bay Packers fan claimed that Packers wide receiver Christian Watson has a higher ceiling than Minnesota Vikings pass-catcher, and reigning NFL Offensive Player of the Year, Justin Jefferson.
Watson has shown flashes of potential from the first play of the season. Yes, he dropped an easy touchdown, but he showed that he could absolutely torch opposing defenses. He used his speed and open field awareness to bend the matrix against the Eagles, showed the ability to come down with amazing contested catches against the Titans, and proved he can take over a game against the Cowboys. These traits have continued comparisons to legendary wide receiver Randy Moss:
Most TDs scored over a 4-game span for a rookie WR in NFL history
1998 Randy Moss 8
2022 Christian Watson 8
I would never compare Christian Watson to Randy Moss, but then you see 6-4 with that stride length moving that fast, and your mind wonders…
Rookies to have 3 TD catches in a game vs. Cowboys:2022 – Christian Watson1998- Randy Moss
Christian Watson reminds me a lot of Randy Moss (((Greg Cosell voice: Now, I don’t mean to say that Watson is already as talented as Randy Moss… Moss is arguably the greatest WR ever… I just mean that ~*stylistically*~ I’m most reminded of Moss when watching Watson)))
The similarities are uncanny. He and Moss are the only players in history* drafted in the Top 35 with 600+ yards and 7+ TDs as a rookie to average fewer than 6 receptions per TD and more than 8.5 yards per target. Practically twins. *(since 1992)
Regardless of experience, Watson joined Chase Claypool, All-Pro Tyreek Hill, and legendary Jerry Rice as the only receivers since the 1970 merger with 40-plus receptions, 600-plus receiving yards, seven-plus receiving touchdowns, and two-plus rushing touchdowns in a season.”
No true football fan is ready to put Christian Watson in the same boat as arguably the greatest wide receiver of all time, but the early returns have been off the charts. Because of this, the Moss-Watson comparisons continue to mount.
