The Green Bay Packers and New York Jets continue to be linked this season.  Even after Aaron Rodgers’ season-ending injury, there are still many similarities between the two teams.  Today it was announced that one former Packers quarterback will be on the active roster for their Week Two matchup Vs. the Dallas Cowboys.

    Per Ian Rapoport:

The Jets have signed QB Tim Boyle to the active roster from the practice squad. Zach Wilson’s backup.

Before the 53-man roster deadline, the New York Jets released former Green Bay Packers quarterback Tim Boyle.  The Packers had Boyle on their roster from 2018-2020. After stints with the Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears, he joined the Jets this offseason.

Boyle was signed to the Jets practice squad on on August 30th.  In his career Tim Boyle has appeared in 17 games (starting three of them).  He has completed 66 of 106 pass attempts (62%), 574 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions.

On May 4, 2018, Boyle signed with the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted free agent. Boyle made the 53-man roster in September 2018, behind Aaron Rodgers and DeShone Kizer, following a strong preseason.

Boyle signed a one-year contract with the Detroit Lions on March 22, 2021. The Lions placed him on injured reserve on September 2nd and would activate him on November 20th. He then made his first career start in Week 11 in place of an injured Jared Goff.
