The New Orleans Saints and Green Bay Packers are preparing for their Week Three matchup. The Saints made a huge move today to secure their defensive line for years to come and it comes just a day before they take on the Packers.
The New Orleans Saints Sign DE Carl Granderson To $52M Extension Prior To Matchup With The Green Bay Packers
On Saturday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Carl Granderson signed a four-year, $52 million extension with $35.3 million in guarantees with the New Orleans Saints.
Granderson’s current deal is worth $5.2 million over two years, with only $240,000 guaranteed.
After playing as a rotational defensive lineman between 2019 and 2022, Granderson won the starting job over Payton Turner in training camp this year. He has started both games for the Saints so far in 2023, making 2.5 sacks, five tackles, seven pressures, and forcing a fumble. With seven pressures, he is more than halfway to the 13 he had in 2022.
The Packers will certainly look to slow down Granderson during their Week Three matchup. He has turned into a very good defesnive lineman that can impact a game on any given play.
