The Wisconsin Badgers basketball team has not lost in over a month. They have won five consecutive games, three of which are against Big Ten rivals. Their last loss came at the then number 1 school at the time in the country, Arizona, in Tempe.
Since then, the Badgers have won against Jacksonville State, Chicago State, Iowa, and Nebraska all at home and won on the road at Ohio State. During this time was the crucial return of guard Chucky Hepburn who got hurt during the Chicago State game. Luckily, he didn’t miss any time and helped the Badgers win 83-72 against the Hawkeyes.
“This is the best offensive team, statistically, of the Greg Gard era. … Wisconsin has already won on the road at Michigan State and at Ohio State. This may not be a coronation in West Lafayette like we thought.”

If the Badgers keep it up, they will certainly be playing spoiler to Purdue who have started this year off brilliantly. Behind last year’s Player of the Year, Zach Edey, Purdue had been taking out opponents left and right. Purdue lost their first game at Northwestern, who Wisconsin will play tomorrow at home. Purdue’s second loss came at the hands of Nebraska in Lincoln, a team Wisconsin handled quite well in Madison.
The Wisconsin Badgers Could Be Stealing The Big Ten Title Away From Purdue When It Is All Said And Done.
With Purdue faltering and showing that they are indeed human, Wisconsin can make leaps and bounds by beating another team that beat Purdue tomorrow at noon. While beating Northwestern won’t automatically make Wisconsin better than Purdue, it does give us fans something to be excited about before the fateful matchup between the two teams. While losing, Purdue still retains the number 1 rank in the country.
The 15th-ranked Badgers (12-3) next 5 opponents are not easy. They will take on Northwestern (12-3) at home, at Penn State (8-8), Indiana (11-5), at Minnesota (12-3), and Michigan State (9-7) to end the month. If they can win against Northwestern, it is possible the Badgers win the rest of games this month.
Greg Gard has done a wonderful preparing the team this season. The Badgers should be considered for a high-seed in this year’s NCAA Tournament.
