NBA rumors: We reported on Sunday that former Milwaukee Bucks No. 2 overall pick Jabari Parker is now officially on his way to Europe. This is after the 28-year-old passed his medical with Spanish outfit Barcelona of the Liga ACB and the Euroleague. As it turns out, however, Parker has made sure to open a path for himself for a potential NBA comeback in the near future.
NBA Rumors: Jabari Parker Has NBA Opt-Out Clause in Barcelona Contract
According to NBA insider Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, Parker has now officially penned a one-year deal with Barcelona worth an estimated $2 million. As part of the contract, however, the 6-foot-8 power forward has negotiated an NBA opt-out clause. While the details of the same have not been made public, the assumption here is that Parker can opt to leave Barcelona if an NBA team comes calling this season.
NBA Rumors: Could Jabari Parker Return to Bucks?
Jabari Parker clearly hasn’t given up on his NBA career just yet — one that started back in 2014 when he was selected as the No. 2 overall pick in the NBA Draft. Parker played the first four seasons of his career with the Bucks, but unfortunately, he was not able to make as big an impact as the team had hoped for, thereby leading to the front office’s decision to let him walk away as a free agent.
Incidentally, Parker signed with the Bucks this offseason as part of their Summer League roster. He did not do enough to earn a spot in the rotation, though, but at this point, he is still hoping that the Bucks — or any other NBA team, for that matter — give him a call some time this season.
